A resected case of solitary pulmonary capillary hemangioma showing pure ground glass opacity.

چکیده
A 53-year-old Japanese woman was referred to our hospital for pure ground glass opacity (GGO) in the left upper lung on computed tomography. 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography revealed no abnormal uptake in the lesion. After 4 months of follow-up, we strongly suspected the lesion to be a bronchioloalveolar carcinoma and decided to perform a surgery for diagnosis. Planning to perform lingual segmentectomy by video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) with mini thoracotomy, we finally performed the left upper lobectomy to guarantee the optimal margin by VATS, because the lesion was not identified by palpation. Final pathological diagnosis was a solitary pulmonary capillary hemangioma (SPCH). We herein report a resected case of SPCH showing pure GGO and review all reported SPCH cases.

Solitary pulmonary capillary hemangioma presents as ground glass opacity on computed tomography indicating adenocarcinoma in situ/atypical adenomatous hyperplasia: A case report
Solitary pulmonary capillary hemangioma (SPCH) is a rare type of benign lung tumor, which must be distinguished from early lung cancer and precancerous lesions of the lung that manifest in a similar way upon imaging. The current study describes a case of SPCH and a review of the literature is performed. The patient was a 40-year-old Chinese woman who was referred to the Liaoning Cancer Hospital...
متن کاملSolitary ground-glass opacity nodules of stage IA pulmonary adenocarcinoma: combination of 18F-FDG PET/CT and high-resolution computed tomography features to predict invasive adenocarcinoma
To investigate the performance of combined 18F-FDG Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography with high-resolution CT for differentiating invasive adenocarcinoma from adenocarcinoma in situ (pre-invasive lesion) or minimally invasive adenocarcinoma in stage IA lung cancer patients with solitary ground-glass opacity nodules. This retrospective study enrolled 58 consecutive stage IA pulmona...
متن کاملA clinicopathological study of resected pulmonary nodules with focal pure ground-glass opacity.
OBJECTIVE Pulmonary lesions with focal ground-glass opacity (GGO) have been detected increasingly by low-dose helical computed tomography (CT). However, the strategy of treatment for focal pure GGO lesions is still undecided. This study evaluates clinicopathological characteristics of resected pulmonary nodules with focal pure ground-glass opacity. METHODS Between January 1997 and December 20...
متن کاملIncidentally diagnosed pulmonary nodule: a diagnostic algorithm
Asymptomatic solitary pulmonary nodules incidentally revealed by computed tomography has become a serious medical problem. Depending on their diameter, solid, part-solid, or pure ground-glass pulmonary nodules may be observed, diagnosed radiologically/invasively, or resected in accordance with international guidelines. Pure ground-glass nodules, semi-solid lesions, or solid lesions smaller than...
متن کاملIdentification of preoperative prediction factors of tumor subtypes for patients with solitary ground-glass opacity pulmonary nodules
BACKGROUND Recent wide spread use of low-dose helical computed tomography for the screening of lung cancer have led to an increase in the detection rate of very faint and smaller lesions known as ground-glass opacity nodules. The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical factors of lung cancer patients with solitary ground-glass opacity pulmonary nodules on computed tomography. ME...
